Noah spent the night sitting down on the floor looking at the door. Luke was gone, and his brief touch of happiness was gone with him… Sometimes he wondered… what had he done to deserve that kind of life?
He heard noises near his door and stood up… It was almost morning already, maybe Luke had brought some breakfast after all… maybe he could forgive him and kiss him again and…
He heard the doorbell and opened the door. Oh, please, let it be Luke…
“Hello, boy”
Colonel Mayer pushed the door open and got inside. Noah looked at him, he couldn’t even think, what was he going to do? Was he angry with him? Still? After all this years…?
“Dad… you shouldn’t be here… if they found out…”
“What’s that?”
His dad was looking at the remains from the supper with Luke, he hadn’t tidied up… you could see two plates, and glasses, and
“Who was here? Don’t tell me you had another friend here!”
“It was… “
“Who!”
The Colonel wrapped his hands around Noah’s neck
“Who was here!”
“A friend… you are hurting me… dad… I can’t breathe… “
“Who was it, Noah?”
“Dad…”
“Tell me!”
“Luke…”
“You mean the Snyder boy?”
“Please… let go… you’re strangling me…”
The colonel let go of his neck and he fell on the floor. He was trying to get some air when he felt a kick on his side.
“I am tired of this, you hear me?”
“Dad…”
His dad kicked him again and Noah could feel his ribs cracking.
“I told you to be a man!!!”
He kicked him again, Noah tried to stand up, but everything hurt too much, he couldn’t breath and his dad wouldn’t stop kicking him.
“You are… you are going to kill me… dad… please, stop…”
The colonel was out of control. He lifted Noah by the collar of his shirt and looked at him
“I am going to kill you? Maybe I should… I rather had a dead son than a… a… it’s disgusting, and I won’t allow it. Is that clear?”
Noah was trying to catch his breath when he felt his father’s punch on the face
“Is that clear?!”
“yess…
The colonel released his hold and Noah fell on the ground.
“Don’t you ever forget it!”
And with that he was gone. Noah was lying sideways with his head on the floor. He could see the open door, but he couldn’t move. Everything was hurting so much…
Chapter 15
