Noah looked at his hands; they were resting on his lap. I have to accept it. That’ll never be mine, if I could just accept it….

He tried to think about his life back before the nightmare started.

He was doing just fine with his job and his apartment. There was emptiness, sure, he felt alone from time to time, but he was getting along…

And then 5 weeks ago he got that call… and it changed his life again.

His father was being released from prison. They said something about good behavior, but he couldn’t listen to them and hung up the phone.

Good behavior? His father? He’d killed his mother and he almost killed Luke, how can he get away after only 10 years?

He will never forgive him for what he did to Luke. He spent months on that wheelchair, he had to work really hard to be able to walk again, and they were releasing him?

He could still feel the fury he felt after that call…

He had escaped prison and almost managed to kill Ameera and now they were talking about good behavior…

He thought he had drowned after jumping up from the boat… he sometimes wished he had.

But he didn’t die, and he was free.

Free to call him everyday to tell him that he was such a bad son, and that he wasn’t a man and… all those things that shouldn’t hurt him anymore.

He was old enough to ignore his father, right? He should just forget about him and pretend he had died in that pier and…

And he didn’t ignore him, he listened to him every time he called. Never answered, though. He just listened to him, hearing awful things about himself and that “Snyder boy”.

Funny how he could remember Luke after all this time…

He thought about calling the police. He could sue his father, he was stalking him, wasn’t him? He thought about facing him, once and for all. He should tell his father to leave him alone. He had a right to live his life his way.

But he started having insomnia instead. He stopped eating because he lost his appetite. He lost interest in everything at all. All he had was that damn call every day… that was his only family, the only person that called him… it was his father hating him…
