Hey Reg, how is your new boyfriend? Luke said as he sat down at Reg’s table in Java. Huh boyfriend? What are you talking about? I’m not seeing anyone right now. What are you doing here anyway? Reg said defensively. Uh Reg this is a coffee shop - it’s a public place. And my fiancé works here and his shift ends in about 10 minutes and then I’m taking him home with me. Luke said smiling at Noah. But you didn’t answer my question. I heard you’re dating Kevin Davis… What? No Kevin is a friend of mine. And he’s straight. Reg said. Oh I know that. Luke said sitting back in his seat crossing his arms. You see I know Kevin. He was my best friend in school. But that friendship pretty much ended when I came out to him. So what I’m wondering is, why are you two friends all of a sudden? Well uh I bumped into him a while ago outside Al’s and we started talking and we found out we have a few things in common. Reg said avoiding Luke’s gaze. Oh yeah like what? That you both used to be friends of mine? Luke said emphasizing the words used to be. Well sort of. More that we both don’t really like that boyfriend of yours. Reg said rubbing his hand over his jaw where Noah had hit him. Look I have to go now. See you around yeah. Reg said as he walked out the door.

Luke got up and walked to the counter. He wanted to talk to Noah but he was busy and his boss was watching. Then saw Scott who didn’t appear to be working so he decided to talk to him for a while. Hey Scott. Shouldn’t you be working? I mean your boss is right there. No my shift doesn’t start for another 4,5 minutes. Scott said laughing. Noah told me you set a date for the wedding. Yeah we did. It was Noah’s idea really. He wants to get married on the anniversary of our first kiss on august 17th. Luke said smiling as he thought back to that day. Oh and consider yourself invited. You’ll probably be there as Aaron’s date but you’re getting an official invite too. How is my brother doing anyway? Luke said teasing. He’s fine. In every meaning of the word. I don’t think I can say the same thing about my bed though. Scott said only half joking. Ok that’s it I’m never talking to you about Aaron ever again. Or to Aaron about you. I don’t want to hear about my brother’s sex life. Luke said faking being shocked. Hey your Noah is no saint either when it comes to that. The things he tells me about you two.. Scott teased. Hey are you two talking about me again? Noah said leaning over the counter to kiss Luke. Hmm yeah Scott just told me what you two talk about here all day. Luke answered. Yeah all those stories about your crazy sex life. I never would’ve guessed you were such a wild one Luke. Scott teased. Shouldn’t you get to work? Noah said grinning and raising an eyebrow at his friend who just laughed and went to work. You know he’s only joking right? I swear I never told him anything like that about us. Noah said. Yeah I know. I know you wouldn’t do that. And besides it would be too hot for him to handle. Luke said a little louder so Scott would hear it too. Come on let’s go home.

So Kevin and Reg aren’t dating? Noah asked trying to figure out what Luke just told him. No but I already knew that couldn’t be true. Kevin isn’t gay and Reg stupid enough to not notice that. I asked him why he suddenly became friends with Kevin and he told me some stupid story on how he just happened to have bumped into Kevin a while ago and they somehow ended up talking about their mutual enemy. Luke said leaning back on the sofa. Mutual enemy? Who? You? Noah asked confused. No you. Luke answered. Kevin hates you for some reason and I think it’s pretty obvious why Reg doesn’t like you. What because I’m with you? Noah said. Yeah and I don’t think you knocking his lights out made him like you very much either. Luke joked and moved on the sofa so he was lying with his head on Noah’s lap. Hmm well he was kissing you. I couldn’t just let him kiss my boyfriend now could I? Noah said and softly kissed Luke. We should probably tell your family that we picked a date for the wedding. We can do that over Sunday dinner. I’m really not in the mood to deal with my family right now. I’m tired and I want to figure out what’s going on with Reg and Kevin first. Luke said and closed his eyes as Noah moved his fingers through his hair. Are you going all detective Snyder on me now? Noah joked. It is possible you know that they really are just friends. That there is no big secret. It may be possible but I just know that there’s more to it than that. I know people. Luke said eyes still closed and enjoying the feeling of Noah’s fingers in his hair. Yeah baby you know people. Noah said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. What do you mean by that? Luke said opening his eyes and giving Noah an angry look. Well.. you thought I was straight until I kissed you. Noah said grinning. Yeah well YOU thought you were straight until you kissed me. But you just couldn’t resist me. Luke replied teasing. You got that last part right. I really can’t resist you Luciano. Why do you think I’m marrying you. Noah said smiling and kissed his fiancé again.

I love you. Luke said leaning over the counter at Java to kiss Noah goodbye for the 20th time in the past 10 minutes. I love you too Luciano. Noah said smiling. But I really have to get to work now. I’ll see you in a few hours ok? We’ll get a DVD and a take away and just relax on the sofa together. Hmm that sounds nice. Luke said smiling and kissed Noah again. But we can’t. We’re on babysitting duty tonight remember? My parents are going out and the girls are coming over to ours tonight. You offered it mister so don’t give me that look. Luke said as he saw the look on Noah’s face change from a loving smile to an oh fuck frown. I know. I remember now. I just had other things in mind to do with you tonight. Noah said. The oh fuck frown on his face changing to a naughty grin. Well we can still do that.. after the girls are gone. And if you’re not too tired from work and dealing with the girls. Luke said with a matching naughty grin on his face. I’m never too tired for you Luciano. You know you’re irresistible to me. Noah said and kissed Luke again. Noah will you get to work now? You’ve been saying goodbye to your boyfriend for the past 15 minutes now. Noah’s boss said annoyed. That’s not what I’m paying you for. Oh but he’s not my boyfriend. Noah said grinning, his right hand still in Luke’s neck from where it was when he had kissed him. He’s my fiancé. Yeah and I’m a paying costumer. Luke said digging a ten dollar note out of his pocket and waving it in the air. Noah’s boss gave both boys an angry look and disappeared into the back of the cafe. You are so going to get me fired. Noah said laughing and kissed Luke one more time before really getting to work.

Luke! Can I talk to you for a second? Kevin shouted as he spotted Luke walking out of Java. Luke turned around and an annoyed look appeared on his face. What do you want? To talk to you. Please just give me 5 minutes of your time. We can even go in there so your watchd – Noah can keep an eye on me. Kevin pleaded. Luke had never seen Kevin like this. Uh ok.. but we’ll go to Al’s. If I go back in there Noah’s boss will fire him and kill us both. Kevin gave Luke a confused look but followed him to Al’s. A few minutes later they walked into Al’s and sat down. So what did you want to talk to me about? Luke said crossing his arms. I uh saw the announcement in the paper. Congratulations. Kevin said looking at the table. Thanks but as I said don’t expect a wedding invite Kevin. Luke said trying to figure out what was up with the guy sitting on opposite of him. No.. I uh I understand. Kevin said with a sad look in his eyes. I just wanted to say I’m sorry for the way I treated you when you came out to me. It just shocked me I guess.. Uh ok.. apology accepted. Luke said surprised. Who was this guy and what has he done with Kevin? But tell me Kevin how come you and Reg are friends all of a sudden? And don’t tell me it’s because you both hate Noah because I’m not buying that crap. Luke said getting angry again. Well that’s all there is to it. Kevin said shrugging his shoulders. I literally bumped into him a while ago and made him drop his coffee so I bought him a new one and we got talking. Oh yeah and do you always tell strangers about your ex best friend’s boyfriend? Luke asked emphasizing on the ex part. No. But Noah just finished his shift or was just about to go for lunch or something I guess because he walked out when I walked in and gave me a dirty look. And Reg said something like I bet he can’t wait to finish what he started with me. That’s how we ended up talking about your precious Noah. Kevin said sarcastically. See that’s exactly why I don’t buy any of your crap Kevin. You haven’t changed. You just became a better liar. Luke said and got up from his seat and left.

Luke was walking through Oldtowne and was in a foul mood. He glanced at his watch. Only 2pm. Damn Noah wouldn’t finish work until 5pm and if he went to see him now Noah’s boss would surely kick them both out. God that woman is evil. Without realising he had walked to their bench. He chuckled and sat down. This is the bench Noah always came to think. Where they had talked about going to the party at the lake house. And where they had shared so many kisses since they started dating. He started replaying all those moments in his head and his mood began to improve. Then the sounds of his mobile ringing brought him back to reality. He dug the phone out of his pocket and checked the caller id to see who was interrupting his daydreaming. Hey Jade. He said as he answered the phone. Don’t you hey Jade me. Why didn’t you tell me? the girl asked angry. Tell you what? Jade I have no idea what you’re talking about. Luke replied. Well let me give you a hint. It has something to do with your boyfriend getting down on one knee and asking you something. Jade said sarcastically. Oh that. Luke said laughing. Yeah Noah and I are getting married. But how do you know? Well not because my cousin called me to tell me! Lucinda sent me a copy of the paper with the announcement in it. Jade said. Really? She hates you! I can’t believe she did that. Luke said surprised. Yeah well she did but I’m still angry you didn’t tell me Luke! Jade said a little hurt. I’m sorry. I’ve hardly had time to get used to it myself. I just had a lot on my mind lately. I’ve been really busy. Luke said. Yeah I bet. Busy celebrating with your fiancé in your bedroom! Anyway have you set a date yet for the wedding? She asked her cousin. Yeah we have actually. But no-one knows yet so don’t say anything to anyone yet ok? Luke answered. Yeah, yeah I won’t say a thing. So when is it? she asked. August 17th. Luke said and a smile appeared on his face when he thought back to that day two years ago. You are coming right? You can crash on our sofa. No thanks I’ll stay at the farm. You don’t want me sleeping on the sofa on your wedding night! She shouted down the phone. Yeah I guess you’re right. Luke said laughing. Hey have you heard the latest news about Aaron yet? What don’t tell me he’s marrying Alison. Jade said. No, no they broke up ages ago. Aaron got himself a boyfriend. His name is Scott and he’s a friend of Noah’s from work. Nice guy. You’ll meet him at the wedding. Listen Jade I have to go now. I’ve got to get to the store because me and Noah are looking after the girls tonight. Luke said getting up from the bench. Ok call me when it’s safe to call your mum about the wedding. Bye. She said. Yeah ok will do. Bye. Luke said and hung up.

We really should get up from this sofa. Noah said making no attempt to move. Yeah but I don’t want to. Luke said and snuggled a little closer to Noah. Me neither but the girls will be here any minute now. Noah said moving his fingers through Luke’s hair. Hmm but they’re not here yet so we can just lie here a little longer. I missed you today. Luke said and kissed his fiancé. You missed me? I was only at work for a few hours! Noah laughed. Yeah well I still missed you. I even ended up talking to Kevin. Luke pouted. Oh really? did you solve the big Reg and Kevin mystery detective Snyder? Noah teased. Oh shut up. I just know they’re up to something. Luke said annoyed. I’m sorry baby but what do you expect they’re up to then? Noah asked. I don’t know.. but I plan to find out. Luke said determined. Noah laughed and wrapped his arms around Luke a little tighter. You know you’re crazy sometimes Luciano. But I still love you. I love you too. Luke said and kissed Noah. Do you think we’ll ever have a family of our own? You know two kids and a Labrador and a house in the suburbs kind of thing? Luke asked looking Noah in the eye. Noah laughed and said: Well I don’t know about that but I do want us to have a family some day. You know I do. And you know we will. Really? You promise? Luke asked. Yes I do. Noah said grinning. And you know I always keep my promises.
