Noah rushed into the farmhouse. "Luke what's wrong, are you alright."

Luke was sitting in his wheelchair near the table. "Nothing" He held up his hand. "You stay right there."

Noah looked puzzled. "You told me to get over here right away. Why do you want me to stay over here?"

"I didn't mean to worry you, I've got something to show you. Close your eyes."

Noah breathed a sigh of relief. "What is it?" As he did as Luke requested and closed his eyes.

Luke slowly lifted himself from the wheelchair and stood several steps away from Noah. "Be patient it will be worth the wait. Okay open your eyes."

Noah opened his eyes and saw Luke standing there. He had a big grin on his face. "Luke" He began to approach him.

Luke again held up his hand. "No, stay there." Luke slowly took 6 steps towards Noah.

Noah opened his arms to help him stand once he reached him. "When did this happened. Yesterday, you could barely stand."

"Can you help me back to my chair." Luke asked.

Noah lifted Luke up and carried him to a chair at the table. "What happened?"

Luke looked at Noah. "Last night I was making tea and spilled some water on my leg. It hurt like hell. It was the first time that I really had any feeling in my legs. I got so excited that I made my Dad work with me most of the night until I was able to take a few steps on my own."

Noah stared in amazement. "That so great. I'm so proud of you."

Luke looked shyly at Noah. "Actually I kind of have you to thank for this too."

Noah looked puzzled. "Me?"

Luke looked down at the floor. "You might have noticed, but I've been a little depressed lately"

Noah shook his head. "I hadn't noticed." He said sarcastically.

"Very funny. I really missed what we had and things were moving so slowly I started to think that we would never have it again. When I felt the burning on my leg. I had hope that we might have a future after all and I was determined to do everything I could to make that happen."

Noah touched the side of Luke's face. "I want what we had back too and after what my father did, I didn't think that was possible. I didn't think that I deserve you. but you helped me too. I remembered our conversation about my life being a lie and I realized that you were the only real and true thing in it and I'm not going to lose you. I'm glad I told you about Maddie."

Luke looked at Noah. "So you want a future with me?"

Noah leaned in towards Luke and gently kissed him on the lips. "Yes" Luke put his arms around Noah's neck and their foreheads touched. They then kissed again, deeper than before. They were both startle when they heard the outside screen door slam shut.

Luke and Noah looked up. "Hi, Dad"

Noah stood up. "Hi, Mr Snyder. Luke was just showing me his surprise."

Holden looked at the two of them. "Yeah isn't that great. He really made progress last night."

Noah looked down at Luke. "You know it's really nice out. Probably one of the last few nice days of the fall. What do you say we do your exercises outside. It will give you a chance to get some fresh air."

Holden nodded at the two boys. "That's a great idea. The fresh air will do you good. Why don't I pack a lunch and you guys can have a picnic."

Luke smiled at Noah and looked at his Dad. "Thanks Dad. That sounds great."

Chapter Two

Luke pointed to a clearing. "Over there."

Noah stopped the wheelchair and put on the breaks. "It's nice here. I've never seen this part of the farm before."

Luke looked around and then at Noah. "It's my private place. I come here when my parents are fighting or I just want to get away. I've never brought anyone here before."

Noah knelt next to Luke. "I feel honored." Noah got up put down the picnic basket and spread out the blanket. "What do you say we do those exercised and work up an appetite. Do you think you can walk to me again."

Luke looked at Noah and he felt his heart leap. "For you anytime." He lifted himself from the chair and slowly walked over to Noah. Noah helped him ease down to the blanket. "You know I think this is actually getting easier." Luke said, as he settled onto the blanket.

Noah smiled. "Good, now let's get to those exercises." Noah helped Luke do his exercises. "Wow there is a big difference from yesterday. Let's stretch out your legs."

Luke watched Noah's every move as he gently bent one of Luke's legs to his chest. Noah concentrated on his task. Slowly bending it to the side and then the other and repeating with his other leg. Noah wasn't watching Luke until he bent both legs into his chest and looked up into Luke's eyes and asked "How does that feel?" He caught Luke's gaze and all thoughts disappeared. He released Luke's legs and slowly moved back over Luke's body. He looked at Luke intently. "I think that is enough for today." Luke wrapped his arms around Noah's neck. "I agree" They kissed deeply. Not seeming to be able to get quite close enough to each other. Luke's hands moved down Noah's back. Slowly working their way beneath his shirt. Noah let out a moan as he felt Luke's hands on his bare skin. Noah pulled away and Luke helped him remove his shirt. Noah then returned to the lips that he had desired for so long. Kissing and pulling Luke even closer. Luke was intoxicated by Noah's aroma. They stopped again briefly to remove Luke's shirt. Noah rolled onto his back and pulled Luke on top of him. Loving the feel of his skin next to his. All at once he stopped and sat up. "We can't do this."

Luke leaned on one arm. "What do you mean? I want you."

Noah looked at Luke and touched the side of his face. "I want you too, but you are just recovering and I'm not prepared for any..."

Luke interrupted. "You're right. I am just recovering, but..." Luke took Noah's hand and placed it between his legs. "I think I'll be better pretty soon."

Noah had a look of shock on his face that slowly turned into a smile. Luke laid down on the blanket and Noah laid his head on his chest. The two future lovers feel asleep in each other arms in the Indian Summer breeze.
