Ameera saw the two laughing and joking, and realized that must have been their life before she came along. How long was she supposed to wait outside? “I am his wife though, whatever the case we should go home back to before that phone call and before Luke showed up” she thought to herself and she went back into Al’s.

Ameera: “Noah I think we should go home, you know we never got to eat dinner . . .”
Noah: “Luke come on we can go back and eat pancakes”
Ameera: “Well . . .” but Luke cut her off.
Luke: “Are you sure? I don’t live there, so I don’t have to eat dinner with you guys”
Noah: “I want you there” and though he couldn’t touch Luke, pull him into his arms and never let go, his eyes said enough for Luke.

As the three walked to their cars Ameera got in Noah’s truck and right before Luke got in his dad’s car he whispered to Noah: “I didn’t know you could cook” and with a smile got in. Then the two cars pulled up in front of the cabin. Ameera graciously offered to go start mixing up some more batter. Noah pulled Luke into the bedroom and they sat on the bed.

Luke: “Noah what happened to taking it slow” he said with a chuckle but a growing look of seriousness.
Noah: “No. I need to tell you something”
Luke: “Please tell me its not about your father because if he . . .” Noah calmed down his boyfriend by placing his hands on both of Luke’s shoulder and kissing him on the forehead.
Noah: “No its about us. I realize that we didn’t get much time to be with each other, become a couple, learn what it is that makes us . . . us.”
Luke: “What is it Noah you scare me when you don’t just say whatever you want to”
Noah: “Before you came we were making pancakes and Ameera told me I must of learned how to make them from my father.”
Luke: “Noah, what does that have to do with us, so what if you did”
Noah: “That bastard taught me nothing! I learned how to by hanging out in the kitchens on bases, I told her it was a place to be out of the way . . . but” his voice was cracking now “it was a place were I was safe from him”
Luke: “Noah come here” tears were falling from Noah’s eyes and his head had been down the whole time. He lifted Noah’s head up and pull him in closer letting Noah bury his head into his shoulder. “You told me that he was locked up so we just need to stay away, well don’t worry I am here with you no matter what you want from me I will be with you to help you with whatever” and the two sat there, with Noah still crying into Luke.

Ameera walked out of the kitchen with the plate of pancakes. "The Colonel isn't going to like this, but no matter what I do, they seem to keep getting closer."

Luke looked up and saw Ameera standing in the other room watching them. He thought to himself. "I don't understand why she always seems to be watching us. She says that she is our friend but, something just doesn't seem right."

He rubbed Noah's back, as he continued to watch Ameera. "Don't worry Noah. I will always be here for you. I will not let anyone hurt you again."

Ameera walked into the room. "I don't want to disturb you, but the pancakes are ready. Would you like to come and eat?"

Noah wiped his face and looked at Luke, he didn't want Ameera to see that he was crying. "We'll be there in just a second."

Luke smiled at Noah. "We will be just fine. Let's have dinner."

Luke, Noah and Ameera sat down to eat. Ameera tried again to soften things between him and his father. "Noah, I know that you don't want to talk about your father, but was he happy to here about us being married?"

Luke looked at Ameera and then at Noah, as he began to answer. "He didn't seem to really care. I know that you knew a different man, but the man I saw today was not the man you knew. It was the man that i knew."

Ameera looked down at her plate. "If you don't want me to see him, I will not, but I just feel that he shows me a different side of him then he shows you. I know that I seemed scared before, but I think that I was just surprised. I would really like to talk to him. Maybe I can call him on the phone?"

Noah shook his head. "No, you will not. You will stay away from him."

Ameera got up and cleared the dishes. "You are my husband I will do what you wish."

Luke watched Ameera leave. "I better go."

Noah let out a sigh. "I really wish that you didn't have to. I really need you tonight."

Luke put his hand on the side of Noah's face. "I'm always with you Noah. Don't forget that."

Noah smiled and hugged Luke. "Promise you will dream of me."

Luke opened the door. "I always do."

Luke walked outside and looked back in the window. He watched Noah sit on the sofa. "Noah, I told you I will protect you and I will. There is more to this girl then we know and it's time that we find out just what it is."
