“I never thought I’d live to see this day.” Holden said grinning as Luke and Noah walked into the kitchen and sat down at the breakfast table.

“You two out of bed without me waking up the entire city threatening you with grievous bodily harm trying to get you down here for breakfast.”

It had become a habit for the boys. Luke would spend the night at Noah’s dorm room a few days a week when Lennon was out and Noah would spend the weekend at the Snyders.

Every Saturday and Sunday morning Holden would spend an hour trying to get the boys out of bed and when they were sitting down for breakfast the joking and teasing would begin.

At first Holden’s comments embarrassed the boys and left them both blushing but soon that changed and it became a game for the 3 men, with both teams trying to embarrass the other.

“Ha, ha very funny dad. We’ve actually been up longer than you.” Luke said as he poured some juice in his glass.

“You mean you’ve been up all night?” Holden asked teasingly.

Luke rolled his eyes at his father and then turned his attention to Noah.

“Shall we tell them?” He asked softly and got a smile and a nod from his boyfriend as a reply.

Luke smiled back and gave his boyfriend a little kiss on the lips.

“Why do you two always have to do that? Eating each other’s faces like that over breakfast.” Faith said annoyed.

“Oh come on Faith it’s just a little kiss.” Lily said defending her son and his boyfriend.

“Yeah and I just can’t help myself, Noah is very kissable.” Luke teased his sister who just rolled her eyes at him.

“You’re very kissable too you know.” Noah said smiling and kissed Luke. “I love you”

“I love you too” Luke murmured against his boyfriends lips and quickly stole another kiss.

See mum?! They’re doing it again. Faith complained to her mother.

“You’re just jealous because you want Jason Miller to kiss you but he doesn’t wasn’t to kiss you because he has a crush on Tina Suarez.” Natalie said to her sister.

“You are such a liar. Shut up you little brat.” Faith snapped back.

Luke laughed at his sisters and took Noah’s hand before turning his attention back to his parents.

“Dad.. do you remember when you first talked about Noah staying over? When you said you didn’t want any surprises at breakfast?”

“Yes.. why?” Holden asked cautiously nodding his head.

“Well.. we’ve been talking about this for a while.. and we’re kind of sick of dragging our stuff all over town the whole time because I’m staying with Noah or Noah is coming here for the weekend..”
Luke trailed off waiting for his parents to catch on.

“What do you want Luke? Are you planning on asking us if Noah can move in?” Lily asked suspiciously

“Because you are more than welcome Noah. It’s just a little crowded here, I didn’t think you boys would want to live here together.”

“Well that’s the thing we don’t.” Luke told his mother.

“But thank you so much for always making me feel so welcome here. I always feel completely at home here.” Noah said quickly not wanting Lily and Holden to think he didn’t like staying with them.

“Honey you are a part of this family, whether you like it or not.” Lily replied smiling.

“I definitely like it.” Noah told her.

”Ok Noah when you’re done sucking up to my mother, which is completely unnecessary because she loves you already anyway, can we get back to the point?” Luke asked with an obvious hint of annoyance in his voice.

“Sorry babe, go ahead and tell them.” Noah said sweetly and placed a small kiss on Luke’s knuckles.

“Like I said.. we’ve been talking about it for a while.. and we decided we want to move in together, get a place of our own.” Luke said squeezing Noah’s hand bracing himself for the Snyder family explosion.

“When did you decide this?” Holden asked calmly.

“We’ve been talking about it for a while..” Luke repeated.

“Yes so you said. But when did you decide you wanted to move out? Last night? After one of your nightly escapades?” Holden asked and both boys got a little nervous because of the tone in his voice.

“Mum, what do you think?” Luke asked his mother hoping she would come to their rescue.

“If you’re sure you want this then I’m happy for you honey. You should give your grandmother a call, she might be able to help you find a place.” Lily said sincere.

“But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to miss you, both of you.”

“Don’t worry mum, we don’t even have a place yet, we haven’t even started looking around for an apartment.” Luke reassured his mother.

“And it’s not like we’ll move to the other side of the country. We’ll probably get something near OU and Java and this place of course. We won’t leave Oakdale.” Noah added.

“Don’t you like living here anymore Luke?” Natalie asked her brother.

“Of course I do. But I just want to be alone with Noah. So I can kiss him without Faith rolling her eyes at me.” Luke said winking at his little sister.

“But we will still come and visit you loads.” Noah promised her.

“You know you still haven’t told us when you decided this.” Holden said again.

“Does it matter? It won’t change anything, we’re still getting a place of our own.” Luke said defensive.

“I just want you to make sure you’re not rushing into anything.” Holden said, friendlier this time.

“You haven’t been back together for that long, and I don’t want to see you back here with your stuff every few weeks because you broke up again.”

“That won’t happen. I know we don’t exactly have the best track record in the history of relationships but we love each other and we want to make this work.” Noah said leaving everyone in the
room slightly shocked.

Noah had never been the kind of guy that wanted to be the centre of attention and usually just sat back and enjoyed the chaos around him.

“I think you should give us the benefit of the doubt instead of just assuming we’ll break up again in a few weeks. I love your son and I want to live with him and make him happy.”

Luke gave his boyfriend a proud look.

“Don’t worry dad if Noah kicks me out I’ll just go to the farm.” He said laughingly.

“I can’t believe you just stood up to my dad like that.” Luke said shaking his head in disbelief.

“Trust me, I wish I didn’t. He’s going to love the idea of you living with me now.” Noah sighed as he sat down on the bed next to his boyfriend.

“Hey don’t worry about that, Holden Snyder is a pretty decent guy you know. He’s just worried.. because of our history you know. But he’ll come around. My mum will talk to him.” Luke said
wrapping his arms around his boyfriend.

“I hope so..” Noah said absentmindedly and let Luke pull him down on the bed with him.

“We’ll just get a paper tomorrow and see what’s out there. Maybe have a look on the bulletin boards on campus too and give my grandma a call.” Luke said snuggling closer to his boyfriend.

“Look what I found.” Luke said holding up a paper as he walked into Java the next day.

“What’s that?” Noah asked taking the newspaper out of his boyfriends hands.

“It’s a newspaper” Luke replied laughingly.

Noah rolled his eyes and turned around.

“Hey Jeff, I’m taking my 10 minute break now ok?”

“Sure, hi Luke by the way.” Jeff said and nodded to Luke to greet the other man.

“Hi Jeff. How’s it going? I haven’t seen my cousin in a few days so I guess things between you and Jade are going good?” Luke asked.

“Yeah things are going great. Well except the fact that my roommate moved out a few days ago and Jade won’t move in with me.” Jeff sighed.

“Have you asked her?” Luke asked. “She might surprise you and say yes. I mean I said yes when Noah asked me to move in with him.”

“You two are moving in together?” Jeff asked surprised.

“Yeah we only just really decided over the weekend.” Noah explained. “So we’re just going to take a look what’s out there you know.”

“Well.. I do have a spare room now and I’m looking for a roommate.. 2 would be even better..” Jeff trailed off hoping his friends would solve his problem.

“Uh no sorry Jeff.. we want a place of our own. You’re my best friend but you don’t want to hear us at night and we don’t want to hear you and Jade.” Noah said jokingly to soften the blow.

“And besides, I’ve had my fair share of living with Jade. I need change now.” Luke added.

“Sorry man..” Noah said again after seeing the disappointed look on his friend’s face.

“No, no it’s ok. Really I get it. I wouldn’t want to move out of my parents’ house just to move in with my cousin and her boyfriend.” Jeff said waving his hand in the air as if to wave his friends’
apologies away.

“Just ask her. Jade is full of surprises, she might say yes.” Luke said as he walked over to the nearest free table and sat down.

“So what are we looking for then? One bedroom or two?” Noah asked scanning the newspaper page in front of him.

“I don’t know.. one? That’s cheaper I guess, rent wise and we don’t really need an extra bedroom do we?” Luke asked unsure.

“Hmm no I guess we don’t..ok one bedroom it is.” Noah said looking at Luke for a sign of approval.

Luke nodded and turned his attention to the paper on the table.

“What about that place.” Noah said pointing at one of the ads. “That looks good, not too expensive and it’s not far from here so we could walk to class and I could walk here. That way we’ll save money on gas.”

Luke turned the paper around so he didn’t have to read it upside down quickly scanned the ad Noah had pointed to.

“It looks good to me.. Shall I go make a call, see if it’s still available?”Luke asked taking his phone out of his pocket.

“Ok, I have to get back to work now though..” Noah said looking over his shoulder to Jeff who was pointing at his wrist to tell Noah his break was over.

“Ok I’ll go make that call. If it’s still available shall I make an appointment to check it out?” Luke asked getting up from the table.

“Sure, my shift is over in 2 hours.” Noah said and gave Luke a quick peck on the lips before taking his place behind the Java counter again.

“So.. found anything yet?” Jeff asked curiously.

“Maybe. We found a place near here that looked good. Luke is calling to ask if it’s still available.” Noah answered.

“Near here? Where?” Jeff asked ignoring the costumer standing in front of him on the other side of the counter.

“Uh.. what is it called again.. near the high street.. that apartment building.” Noah said which earned him a slap on the back of his head from his friend.

“Hey what did you do that for?” Noah asked both confused and slightly angry.

“That apartment building near the high street is where I live you idiot. You even stayed with me for almost 2 weeks when you and Luke had broken up and they didn’t have a place at the dorms for you! I’m glad it made such an impression on you.” Jeff said angry and probably a little too loud to be considered suitable for work.

“I’m sorry man, I was pretty out of it back then. I didn’t really look around to see what your apartment was like or your neighbourhood.” Noah replied rubbing the back of his head.

Jeff muttered something under his breath and turned his attention to the costumers.

“Hey I have news. Luke said walking up to the counter a few minutes later.

“News? Just news? Not good news or bad news?” Noah asked his boyfriend.

“Well.. it’s both I guess..” Luke said avoiding Noah’s gaze.

“Both..right.. care to explain?” Noah asked confused.

“The good news is.. we have an apartment..” Luke said carefully.

"What do you mean we have an apartment?" Noah asked raising his eyebrows, not sure if he wanted to hear what Luke meant.

Luke took a deep breath and looked his boyfriend in the eye.

“I called the number from the paper and I talked to the landlord and he said that in theory the place was still available but there were some other people that were interested in it. So I had to decide on the spot and I might have mentioned my grandma’s name a few times.. anyway to cut a long story short.. it’s ours if we come check it out right now and sign the paperwork.”

“Right now?! I have to work. I can’t just leave Jeff on his own..I can’t just walk out in the middle of my shift.” Noah said looking at his boyfriend as if he’d lost his mind.

“Your boss isn’t here today and Jeff can cope for half an hour. Please?” Luke pleaded.

“I could lose my job over this Luke. No job, no money, no apartment.” Noah said trying to reason with Luke.

“Oh will you two just get out of here already?! Noah, if anyone asks I’ll just say your lunch didn’t agree with you and you spent at least half an hour on the toilet.” Jeff said practically shoving Noah out the door.

A little over half an hour later the boys were walking back to Java. Keys and signed paperwork in their hands.

“We have an apartment Noah.” Luke said beaming with joy and jingling the keys in his left hand.

“I still think you’re crazy for just saying yes to that guy right away before you had even seen anything.” Noah said laughingly.

“Maybe.. but if it wasn’t for my craziness we wouldn’t have this great apartment of our own right now.” Luke said and kissed his boyfriend’s cheek.

Noah laughed at his boyfriend’s good mood and pulled him a little closer.

“You never told me the bad news.”

"What? What are you talking about?" Luke asked.

“Earlier when you told me about the apartment.. you said you had good news and bad news, but you never told me the bad.” Noah explained.

“Oh that..well.. the bad news is.. that Lennon is going to have to find himself a new roommate” Luke said and both boys laughed.
