An upset Luke blurts out to Will that Jade isn't his girlfriend...and she never will be because Luke is gay. Luke laments how upset Holden was when he just suspected Luke was getting too close to Kevin -- that's why Luke went along with Jade's charade. His parents will hate him. Will says he's sure they won't.
L72
Luke tells Jade he's decided to come out to his parents. He's tired of all the lies, his and hers. All they've done for weeks is cover for each other, that's not friendship, that's sick. Scared, Jade goes running to Holden, telling him he's like the dad she never had. And then, in a very undaughterly move, she plants a kiss on him.
L73
Luke comes in as Holden is peeling Jade off of him. Jade tries to defend herself, but Luke orders her to shut up. It's his turn to talk now. Holden and Luke leave Jade and return to the house. Holden assures his son that he's ready to hear whatever Luke needs to tell him. Lily comes in and, hearing that Luke and Jade "broke up," is full of chatter about how there will be more girls in his future. Holden hushes Lily and insists that they need to listen to their son. Luke confesses to his parents he's gay.

As Luke comes out to his parents, Lily insists that he's just confused. Holden, however, assures Lily their son is telling the truth. Lily suspects Jade put him up to this, but Jade pulls out the big guns and tells Lily she wasn't the only one who knew about Luke's deception.

Holden admits he had his suspicions about Luke. Lily demands to know how he could have kept this from her. Lily tells Luke that for the first time in her life, she doesn't know how to be his mother.

Luke tells Lily and Holden that he's not confused; he knows he's gay, and the only question is whether his parents can accept that. Lily insists she does, but Luke doesn't buy it. Lily wonders to Holden if this is her fault, but Holden tells her they have a loving, healthy son, they should just be grateful and hope he has a happy life.

Lily confides in Lucinda that Luke is gay and is shocked when her mother...isn't. Lucinda says obviously something was bothering Luke, and now at least it's out in the open. Meanwhile, Luke brings Jade her stuff and insists that his life is better now that the truth is out than when he was faking it with her. But Jade keeps pointing out how uncomfortable Lily still is with her baby boy.
