"Good morning” Luke said sleepily as he walked into the kitchen of his and Noah’s apartment. “Hey, what are you doing up? I wanted to get you breakfast in bed.” Noah said as he gave his boyfriend a quick good morning kiss. “Hmm well I could go back to bed.” Luke said jokingly. “Yes, great idea, do it. It’s our first morning here, and neither of us have to do anything today or go anywhere.. so go back to bed, breakfast is almost ready.” Noah said turning Luke around and gently pushing him back into the direction of their bedroom. “You know I was only joking about the going back to bed thing, right?” Luke said trying to turn around. Yeah but I wasn’t. Noah said and gave him another quick kiss before returning to the kitchen. He opened one of the cupboards and moved a few things out of the way before he saw what he was looking for. The little velvet box with the engagement ring in it he had bought for Luke 2 months ago. The day they had gotten the keys to their apartment. He opened the box and looked at the ring. It’s perfect, he thought, now all I need is the perfect moment. “Hey what’s taking you so long?” Luke shouted from the bedroom. “I’m getting hungry here!” Noah snapped out of his thoughts quickly put the box back in his hiding place and turned his attention back to breakfast. “I’m coming” He shouted back. “Yeah I’ve heard that one before” Luke shouted laughingly.
They had breakfast in bed together and watched some TV. “See? I told you it was a good idea to put the TV in the bedroom for now.” Luke said with a smirk. “Yeah, yeah you we’re right. Happy now?” Noah said rolling his eyes. “Yes, very.” Luke said and kissed his boyfriend on the lips. “I’m going to have a shower now, care to join me?” Noah asked with a mischievous smile on his face. “I’ll be right there. I just want to see the end of this.” Luke said gesturing to the TV. Noah sighed and got out of bed and walked into the shower. Luke turned the volume down on the TV and waited until he heard the shower. He quickly got out of bed and searched around the room looking for the box marked “Luke’s writing”. He opened and searched through the papers and books until his hand touched something hard. He smiled to himself and pulled the object out of the box. Thank god Noah never goes through my writing stuff, he thought as he opened the little velvet box and took the ring out. I’m really going to ask him today, he thought, he’s going to love it. “Hey how much longer are you going to make me wait?” Noah shouted impatiently from the bathroom. Luke put the box back in its hiding place and joined his boyfriend in the shower.
How did we end up in bed again? Luke asked as he snuggled a little closer to Noah. “Do I really need to tell you that? I’m glad I make such an impression on you.” Noah said pretending to be hurt by Luke’s question. Luke was just about to tell his boyfriend just how much he impressed him but he was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. “I knew it was too good to be true.” He groaned as he got out of bed, quickly put some clothes on and walked to their front door to open it. “Morning Luke” Jack said as Luke opened the door. “Uh.. morning... what are you doing here?” Luke asked confused. “I’m working and I’m looking for Noah. Is he here?” Jack asked. “Yes of course he’s here. He lives here, with me, since yesterday. Why are you looking for Noah? He hasn’t done anything wrong has he?” Luke asked. “Can I come in? I really need to talk to Noah.” Jack said ignoring Luke’s question. Luke stepped aside and Jack walked into the apartment. “I’ll go get him” Luke said and walked into the bedroom.
“Sorry to spoil your first day in your own place guys. But I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t important.” Jack said looking at the guys. “We know Jack.” Noah said slightly annoyed. “Why are you here?” Luke asked again. “It’s about your father, Noah. Winston Mayer has been in police custody since 3.56 AM this morning.” Jack said professionally. “You mean they’ve found his body?” Luke asked hoping that was what Jack meant. “No I mean he is alive and was arrested near the farm this morning.” Jack explained. “We don’t know what he was doing there and he isn’t talking. Our guess is that he was looking for you, Noah. Has he contacted you lately? Did you know he was alive?” “No of course he didn’t. You know he didn’t know that, Jack.” Luke said angry and protectively wrapped his arms around his boyfriend. I’m just doing my job here Luke. Jack said before turning his attention to Noah, who hadn’t said a thing and was just staring into space not moving a muscle. “Noah I get that this must come as a shock to you but I need to ask you to come by the station today. We hope that your father will talk once he sees you.” “NO!” He shouted and got up from the table and practically ran to the bedroom, slamming the door shut behind him. “Okay.. what did just happen?” Jack asked shocked. “I don’t know.. I’ll talk to him. I think you should leave now Jack.” Luke said also getting up from the table and looking from the bedroom door to Jack and back. “Luke, I’m sorry I ruined your day but you really need to get him to the station. He might confess if he talks to Noah.” Jack said. I said I’d talk to him, but I’m not going to push him into going to see his father. If he doesn’t want to go I’m not going to make him. Luke said determined.
“Noah? Are you ok?” Luke said softly as he walked into their bedroom seeing his boyfriend lying on the bed staring at the ceiling, one arm behind his head the other one on his stomach. Luke sat down on the bed next to Noah who hadn’t seemed to have noticed he was there. “Noah?” he said again and softly stroked his boyfriend’s arm. “Noah” he said once more and stroked Noah’s face and softly grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at him. “Hey, are you ok?” Noah sighed and closed his eyes for a second. “Come here.” He said as he opened his eyes again and pulled Luke down to lay beside him. “You know I love you, right?” He asked a little insecure. “Of course I do. And I love you too.” Luke said and kissed his boyfriends cheek. “Can we just lay here for a while? I – I don’t want to talk about him.. I want to forget he ever existed.” Noah asked in a small voice. “Sure. Anything you want babe.” Luke said snuggling close to Noah, resting his head on his chest.
“If.. If I decide to go see him.. will you come with me?” Noah asked about an hour later. “Of course. I love you. I won’t let you face him on your own. We’re in this together remember?” Luke said lovingly. “Shall I call Jack? Tell him we’re on our way?” Noah just nodded and Luke got off the bed to make the call.
“Thanks for coming Noah.” Jack said shaking Noah’s hand. “Someone will bring your father to that interrogation room in a few minutes and an officer will be present the whole time you are there.” “Ok..” Noah said looking nervous. “I’ll go check if they’re ready to bring him out yet.” Jack said and walked off. “Hey, you’re going to be ok. He can’t control you anymore. Just tell him that. Don’t let him put you down again.” Luke said taking both of Noah’s hands in his and placing a kiss on them. Noah smiled weakly.”You think I’m doing the right thing?” “It doesn’t matter what I think. What matters is that you will be able to put all this behind you once and for all.” Luke said looking into Noah’s eyes. “I love you, Luke Snyder.” Noah said smiling and pulled Luke close and kissed him. Noah kissed him like all the strength he needed was on Luke’s tongue, like the touch of his lips could help him through this. They broke the kiss as someone cleared their throat. "Noah, if you’re ready, he is in there." Jack said feeling a little awkward. "You can do this. I love you." Luke said and gave Noah a quick peck on the lips for good luck.
There he was, sitting at the other end of the table, cuffed but still wearing his own clothes. “Hello, Noah.” Winston said calmly. “Good to see you again son” “I’m not your son.” Noah said angry. “You have no right calling me that.” “Why not? You are my son Noah. That is the simple truth.” Winston said in the same calm tone of voice he had used before. “The truth is that you killed my mother, tried to kill the man I love, escaped from prison, kidnapped an innocent girl planning on doing god knows what to her and made me believe you were dead!” Noah said feeling himself get angrier by the minute. I thought you were dead, I got your dog tags and I actually mourned your death! I pushed everyone that loves me away because you messed with my head again! But you know what, you can’t do that to me anymore. Whatever you want to say I’m not interested. You’re dead to me.” Noah said calming down slightly and sat back in his chair crossing his arms. “Oh come on Noah, you know you don’t mean that. All that tough talk, that’s not you. It never was. I heard you enlisted but changed your mind at the last minute. That is so typically you. You don’t stand up for yourself Noah, you run and hide like a little boy. You will never be a real man.” Winston said still very calm. “Excuse me col. Mayer, you are very wrong about that.” Luke said walking into the interrogation room and casually sitting down next to Noah, grabbing his hand and entwined their fingers. “Noah is more of a man than you will ever be. He is honest, caring, loving and above all a great kisser.” He said as he put a hand on Noah’s cheek and kissed him softly on the lips. “I love you.” Noah said softly. “I love you too.” Luke replied. “I think we are done here.” Noah said looking at Winston who was turning red with fury. “Goodbye Winston.” Noah said getting up and taking Luke’s hand again as they walked out of the interrogation room and out of the police station.
“I’m so proud of you.” Luke said for the millionth time since they had gotten home from the police station. Well you weren’t half bad either. Noah said laughingly as he thought back to how Luke had kissed him in front of Winston. “I thought he was going to explode” he joked. Hmm now that I wouldn’t mind seeing. You think it would make the 8 o’clock news? Luke joked back. I’m glad it’s all over now. He said a little more seriously. “Me too.” Noah said and kissed him. Luke broke the kiss and got up from the sofa. “Be right back, just got to get something from the bedroom.” “Ok..” Noah said slightly confused. “Don’t worry, you will like it. Luke said as he walked to the bedroom and went straight to the box marked Luke’s Writing” again. He opened the box and reached and pulled the little velvet box that contained the engagement ring he had bought for Noah. Tonight is the night, he thought as he walked back to the living room and sat down next to Noah again. “So, what’s my surprise?” Noah asked curiously.
Luke smiled and got down on one knee in front of Noah, opening the little box and showing him the ring. “I bought this ring 2 months ago, and I’ve been planning and waiting for the perfect time to ask you this ever since. And tonight probably isn’t it but I can’t wait any longer. Will you marry me Noah?” Noah smiled and got up from the sofa and walked to the kitchen, leaving a very confused Luke behind. Luke got up from the floor and sat down on the sofa again, looking at the ring in his hand. Noah came back into the living room still smiling brightly. He sat down next to Luke and took his hand. “Yes, I will marry you. And I guess we had the same plan.” He said as he opened the little box he held in his hand and showed Luke the ring he had bought for him.
“So, Luke Snyder, will you marry me too?”
