If you don't want to do that, try to someone at least include "P&G" in the topic of your email to try to get the story to be a bit more local, from the reporter's point of view).

Subject: Luke & Noah Media Blitz - Wednesday, February 20th to Wednesday, February 27th.
Who should participate: EVERYONE!
What do you to have to participate: An email address and one written email!

Greetings Luke & Noah fans,

As you all know, we have campaigned in support of the Luke & Noah storyline with P&G, CBS, and the show itself, and look what it has got us? I think it’s time to shift our strategy a bit and focus on getting media attention. That’s why, over the next week or so, I propose we ALL partake in Support Nuke in the Media Week!

Since Valentine's Day, we have talked about our complaints regarding the show's handling of this storyline. However, I haven't read a lot about people *doing* something about it. Hence, I tried to think of a way to get *EVERYONE* involved, even the most lazy among us, so over the next week, that's what I plan on doing.

I have collected contact information for tv critics/arts/entertainment writers at various newspapers located in the 20 most populous cities in the United States. Every day during this week-long campaign, I am going to post roughly 5 to 10 links or email addresses in which you can use to write to these people. I will also include links to contact a few magazines as well. I propose that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU OUT THERE READING THIS write to all of these people each and every single day. I want each of these people to be flooded with well over 100 emails (well, that's what I wanted, but we'll make do with the turnout we have!) from us each and every single day! This might seem like a lot of work, but it really isn’t.

I would like to start this campaign on Wednesday, February 20th. Between now and then, before we start our write-in effort, I would like everyone to sit down and write a general clear and concise letter regarding As the World Turn’s and its gay storyline. Keep in mind that your letter is going to be directed at a member of the media, so when writing, try to get them engaged in such a way that they will WANT to write on this subject. Once Wednesday the 20th rolls around – when it comes time to write to these newspapers and magazines, all you have to do is copy and paste your original letter into separate emails and change two things: the email address you’re sending the email to – as well as who you are addressing the message to.

I believe that if *all* of us unite together to do this, including all of you lurkers - you know who you are!, we might just get some mainstream media attention and pressure put on the show. If that happened, the show would most likely have to respond differently than they have responded thus far with the internet-based media attention focused on them. We might even be able to get P&G or CBS to change their minds regarding how they are censoring this show. While this might not happen, I still think it’s worth the effort to try, don’t you?

Normally, I would now write what I would like everyone to include in their emails to the press. However, I don’t think it’s my place to do that. Each of us have been effected by both the positive and negative aspects of this storyline in a different way, so I think it should be left up to each of you as individuals to frame your own email in the manner in which you think would best have its desired effect.

Still, for those who aren’t sure what to write when it comes to writing in to these media sources, I would like to help out by telling you what *I* personally plan to write when it comes to sending out these emails. I personally plan on writing and focusing on the following aspects A) ATWT’s bravery for taking the time to feature a gay teenage couple in deep love, no matter how many bigots there are out there watching and complaining B) Jake & Van’s complete and utter dedication to their roles C) ATWT’s amazing handling of the couple – by making them non-stereotypical and by making them the most romantic and “in love” couple on daytime tv and perhaps all of tv (IMHO) and D) CBS/P&G, despite all the good that they have done w/ the story, have discriminated against gay people by continuous censoring of Luke & Noah kissing (by showing it’s ok for straight people to kiss but not gay people – that is a clear sign of discrimination and caving to the bigots watching the show). You might also like to mention who you are - especially if you're a young female. This is the demographic that soap operas crave and also might be a demographic that the press might be surprised to see being interested in a gay storyline. You also might want to link to articles on the internet and youtube videos that provide evidence of our concerns.

These are all the subjects I plan to touch on in my email to these media outlets. Feel free, of course, to write about whatever aspects of the show and storyline that you deem fit. I just wanted to put out what I plan to write about when I write my email in order to try to get some people who aren’t sure what to write about a starting point.

If any of you who post Luke & Noah videos on youtube or post on any other message boards would like to spread the word about our media blitz, please do so! Also, Heather was nice enough to make a banner for this cause that you can see at the op of this page! If you want to use that banner on your site to link to this page, please do so! The more people who find out about this and write in EACH AND EVERY SINGLE DAY, the better!

For those of you participating in this effort, PLEASE start writing your letter as soon as you have the time! This Wednesday, February 20th, I will post the five to ten contacts that I want ALL of you to send your emails to. If we can unite and flood these inboxes with our letters of support and concern, who knows – we just might make a difference after all!

Results!

cafeaulaitlady FYI - Gay USA TV Mentions Fan Displeasure 2 Mar 2 2008, 4:31 AM EST by Petousette

Thread started: Mar 1 2008, 8:24 PM EST  Watch
Hi everybody,

I just finished watching Gay USA (gayusatv.org) on the local Philadelphia Public Television station WYBE. The hosts are Andy Hume and Ann Northrop.

They mentioned at the end of the show the recent fan displeasure regarding the lack of kisses being displayed by Luke and Noah the gay couple on ATWT.

In summarizing what they stated:

Mr. Hume said that Luke and Noah are affectionately known as Nuke.

Ms. Northrop said that she watched ATWT and didn't think that it was too big of a deal, that they had kissed before, and that they did show other forms of affection besides them kissing.

Mr. Hume disagreed with Ms. Northrop and agreed with the fans regarding our complaints that if they were a straight couple more kissing and physical displays of affection would be shown.

They then featured the youtube video showing the number of times they've almost kissed with the song Passionate Kisses playing in the background.

Mr. Hume closed the show by saying that he hopes that they will have them kiss again, show them in bed together, and that they use protection.

I was surprised and pleased to see that last week’s campaign is still working. :D
