Chapter 4

Noah sat and thought. "How is it possible that I don't remember anything?" He put his hand to his head.

The woman put her hand on his arm. "I'm sure it is temporary. I don't know how long you were out there so I'm sure that it will come back in time. I probably should get you some aspirin for that headache."

Noah nodded. "Thank you."

The woman got up and went to the other room. While the woman was in the other room, Noah looked down at himself and then under the covers. He saw that he was undressed.

She came back with a glass of water and an aspirin. "Here you go."

Noah took the aspirin and the water. "How did I get undressed?"

The woman looked at the ground. "I'm afraid I did it. Your clothes were soaked. I had to get you out of them and warm you up."

He took the medicine and handed the glass back to the woman. Noah looked sadly at the woman. "How could I forget my whole life?"

The woman shook her head. "Things like that happen, I guess. Don't worry. Let's just take care of your wounds and hopefully the rest will take care of itself."

Noah smiled. "Your awfully kind to someone that you don't even know. I don't know you do I?"

The woman smiled. "I'm sorry. I should have introduced myself. I'm Jill Scmidt."

Noah put out his hand. "Nice to meet you Jill."

Jill smiled. "Nice to meet you too."

Holden was closing the door. "Are you sure that Noah couldn't be at someone else house?"

Luke shoved his hands into his pockets. "He said that he was going to meet with his group when he was done taking pictures. They haven't heard from him. I'm worried Dad. It's dark out and it's starting to snow. Did you call Uncle Jack?"

Holden nodded. "He said they can't do anything until he has been missing 24 hours."

Luke was starting to get frantic. "We have to go looking for him. If he is lost in the woods he won't be able to make it through the night. What if he is hurt?"

Holden held Luke by the arms. "Don't think the worse."

Tears started to form in Luke's eyes. "What else am I suppose to do?"

Holden let go of Luke and grabbed his coat. "We'll go looking for him. Do you have any idea where we could start?"

Luke let out a heavy sigh. "Well, there is the area were we went fishing with his Dad maybe he went there."

Holden opened the door. "Let's get going then."

Jill got up. "Well, you might not remember who you are, but you are probably hungry. What do you say I get you some soup to help you warm up some more?"

Noah smiled. "That does sound good."

Jill went into the other room. She went to her stove and put on a pot. She began to heat up the soup.

Noah sat in bed and looked around the room. Everything was so unfamiliar. What was he doing in the woods? Why couldn't he remember anything? Where was he from and more importantly, what was his name?

Noah looked at the various things in the room. It was very feminine with lace and flowers on everything. Not Noah's taste at all. He smiled to himself. I might not know who I am, but I know what I like.

Jill came back in with a tray with a bowl and a pot and a cup. She put the tray on the table near the bed. "This should do the trick." She poured out the tea and then put the tray over Noah's lap.

Noah sat up. "This is really kind of you."

Jill waved her hand. "Don't even worry about it. I'm a good judge of character and I'm sure that if the roles were reversed that you would do the same thing. How is the soup?"

Noah smiled. "It's very good. Thank you"

Jill smiled. "You are awfully polite."

Noah thought for a minute. "I guess that's the way I was raised. Even though I don't really remember it at the moment."

Jill nodded. "I guess that is something that stays with you whether you know who you are or not."

Noah smiled.
