"So guys, looking forward to tomorrow?" Holden asked the boys during dinner. "Any pre-wedding nerves?" The boys looked at each other and smiled. "No we’re not nervous. It’s going to be the most amazing day of our lives." Luke said not once breaking eye contact with his husband."I’m marrying the love of my life tomorrow." He said and kissed Noah. "Do you two have to be so happy?" Aaron said groaning. "Hmm as I recall you and Scott are a lot worse than Luke and Noah now." Holden said jokingly. "Yeah well you won’t have to worry about that anymore because we broke up." Aaron said annoyed and got up from the table and walked out onto the porch. "Did you guys know about this?" Holden asked. "No, no we didn’t. I haven’t seen Scott in a few days.. he took a few days off from work. But he did text me yesterday to say he was coming to the wedding." Noah said the last part more to himself than anyone else. "I’ll go talk to Aaron." Luke said getting up from the table.
"Hey, are you alright?" Luke said as he sat down next to his brother on the bench by the pond. "Yeah I’m fine." Aaron said and stared at the pond. "You don’t look fine to me." Luke said. "What happened? I thought you guys were having fun together?" Luke asked. "Yeah well so did I but he ditched me for some other guy. He ended it last week. He’s still coming tomorrow though, he’s Noah’s friend after all. I can deal with it. Don’t worry about me." Aaron said finally looking at his brother. "Are you sure you’re alright?" Luke asked. "Yes I’m sure. Don’t worry about me Luke. You’re getting married tomorrow. You shouldn’t even think of my messed up love life. Hey isn’t this where Noah proposed?" Aaron asked tying to change the subject. Luke smiled at the memory of Noah getting down on one knee and asking him to marry him. "Yeah it is. He was so nervous. I had no clue he was going to propose." "Well he did and you’re going to say I do to him tomorrow. Come on lets go back inside. Your husband is waiting for you." Aaron said as he got up from the bench and started walking back towards the house.
They walked back into the kitchen and sat back down at the table. "Is everything alright?" Holden asked his sons, looking from Aaron to Luke and back. "Yeah everything is fine." Luke answered. "Yeah really dad I’m fine." Aaron said after Holden gave him a I - don’t – believe – you look. "Hey Grandma shouldn’t those two sleep in different rooms tonight? That’s Tradition right?" Aaron said teasingly and pointed at Luke and Noah. "Well.. yes it is tradition..the groom can’t see the bride before the wedding. It is bad luck." Emma said jokingly. "See? I knew it was something like that. Ok so Luke, Noah can’t see you before the wedding. I wouldn’t want you guys to have bad luck." Aaron teased his brother. "Oh so now I’m a girl? Thanks bro." Luke said sarcastically. "And don’t we get a say in this? Noah said grabbing Luke’s hand. I can’t sleep without Luke lying next to me. And I’m not sure he will still marry me if I look like death warmed up tomorrow." Noah said jokingly. "Of course I will still marry you. You’re not getting rid of me that easily." Luke said and kissed Noah softly on the lips before turning back to Aaron. "And besides we’re already married so that’s your bad luck theory going out the window."
The boys decided to stay the night at the farm and the next morning they woke up in their old room. "Good morning mister Snyder." Noah said softly as he kissed his slowly awakening husband. "Hmm good morning to you too mister Snyder." Luke said smiling after they broke the kiss. "What time is it?" he asked. "Only 9am we’ve still got plenty of time for a bit of pre-wedding fun." Noah said with a naughty grin on his face while his hand slipped under the covers and slowly moved down Luke’s body and got dangerously close to its destination when Luke stopped him. "Hey none of that before we’re married. He said looking straight into Noah’s lust filled eyes. "But we’re already married baby." Noah said as he started to kiss his husbands chest. "Hmm.. oh.. yeah.. that’s true.. but I’m a traditional guy.. and.." Luke trailed off as Noah’s hand slipped under the covers once more and this time did reach its destination. "What was that you said about tradition baby?" Noah asked innocently while the things he was doing with his hand were anything but innocent. "Ooh hmm.. ah.. Fuck." Luke muttered unable to think straight as the blood in his body wasn’t going towards his brain anymore. "Hmm gladly" Noah said and did as he was told.
"Boys! It’s 10.30 already! I thought I told you to set your alarm? Your guests will be here in two hours and the ceremony is supposed to start in 2,5 hours and you’re not even dressed yet!" Lily said slightly panicking when the boys walked into the kitchen still in their pyjamas. "Don’t worry mum, we will be ready in time." Luke said as he poured two cups of coffee and walked over to the table and sat down, handing Noah his coffee. "Jade! Why aren’t you dressed yet? It’s past 10.30! Why am I the only one in this family that’s ever ready in time?" Lily said throwing her hands up in the air in frustration and walking outside to check on the decorations. "Hey guys." Jade said as she sat down. "It’s looking pretty good out there. I bet you haven’t seen it yet. I heard you two this morning. She said grinning. Thank god you are going back to your own place tonight. Where are you going on honeymoon anyway? Italy?" Jade said jokingly. "Well actually we are. We’re going on our own little Euro trip." Luke said smiling at his husband. "We’re leaving for Rome in 2 days and then spend 3 days there before we go to Barcelona for 4 days and then Paris for another four and then via Belgium to Holland to spend a week in Amsterdam." "Wow you really are going on a euro trip. What happened to spending your honeymoon in one place?" Jade said jokingly. "Just remember to take loads of pictures and send me postcards and emails." "Will do." Luke said getting up. "I’m going to go take a look outside. You coming with me?" he said to Noah who took his hand and followed him outside.
"Wow it looks really good." Noah said wrapping his arms around Luke’s waist and resting his chin on his shoulder. "Yeah it does." Luke said. Lily had gone a little over the top with the decorations but it looked good. The theme she picked was red and white and there even was a little stone arch with red and white flowers on it at the end of a red carpet as an isle with seats on either sides. "Hey and not a rainbow flag in sight." Noah said jokingly. "Oh god Noah look at the back of the seats. L&N. Why do I get the feeling that was the girls’ idea?" Luke said leaning back in Noah’s embrace and closing his eyes for a few seconds. "Don’t you like it?" Noah asked. "Hmm I don’t know.. it looks a little.. tacky?" Luke said trying to find the right word. "Well just keep your eye on your prize, which would be me, when you walk down that red carpet." Noah said affectionately. "Yeah you’re not even a director yet and you get to walk down a red carpet already" Luke said jokingly. "Yeah your mum really knows how to make me happy today." Noah joked back. "Oh so marrying me isn’t enough?" Luke said and turned around in Noah’s embrace putting his arms around his neck and kissing him softly on the lips. "Come on let’s go get dressed before mum catches us here and has a nervous breakdown." Luke said only half joking and took Noah’s hand and led him inside and upstairs.
About an hour and a half later Luke found himself standing behind all the guests at the beginning of the red carpet isle looking at Noah at the other end. He always does look great in red Luke thought as watched his husband who was wearing a tux and red shirt just like he was. Only Noah wasn’t wearing his jacket at the moment because Lily was fixing his tie for him and Luke was enjoying the view. He will never learn Luke thought and smiled as he thought back to the first time he had fixed Noah’s tie. "That’s what started it all, that’s what got us here." "What did what start?" Jade asked while she was straightening Luke’s tie and wiped imaginary dust off his jacket. "Huh what? Did I say that out loud?" Luke said a little confused. "Yes you did. What’s on your mind? Or don’t I want to know?" Jade asked teasing. "Oh uh nothing. Just getting a little lost in memories. Luke said smiling as he thought back to the first time Noah had kissed him. He stood there for a few minutes looking at Noah and getting lost in memories. He hardly noticed Jade kissing him on the cheek and telling him she was going to her seat. He watched the minister get in place and Noah doing the same. Just a few minutes now he thought and his eyes met Noah’s. Noah gave him a nervous little smile and Luke felt his heart skip a beat. The music started and Luke took a deep breath and walked down the red carpet to take his place next to Noah. Next to the man he loved and wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Next to the love of his life, his soul mate.
"Dearly beloved", the minister started, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Luke and Noah. They have asked me to keep the ceremony short and simple and to get to the matter in hand as soon as possible. So I would like the best man to give me the rings so we can get them married already." The minister said joking and Aaron got up and handed over the little velvet box with two gold wedding bands. Both inscribed with the infinity sign and "all my love forever, Noah" on Luke’s ring and "my happy ending, love, Luke" on Noah’s ring. "Luke and Noah have written their own vows. Noah would you like to go first?" The minister asked. Noah nodded and cleared his throat before taking a deep breath.
"Luke, I love you more than anything or anyone in this world. And for the past few days I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to think of some nice poetic way to say that to you today. But as you and I both know I’m not the writer out of the two of us. So I just want you to know that I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Noah took Luke’s ring out of the little box and put it on Luke’s finger.
"Luke it’s your turn now." The minister said and Luke looked into Noah’s beautiful blue eyes.
"Noah, if someone would’ve told me two years ago we would be standing here today I would probably have laughed in their face. But now here were are after all we’ve been through and I couldn’t be happier. I love you Noah, always will and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. And I’m sure that when our time comes we will be together forever in heaven." Luke took Noah’s ring out of the little box and slid it on Noah’s finger.
Noah took Luke’s hands in his and smiled brightly. "Now it is my great pleasure to pronounce you Mister and Mister Luke and Noah Snyder. You may kiss your husband." The minister said and Noah wasted no time in capturing his husbands lips with his own. They broke the kiss and Noah rested his forehead against Luke’s and looked him in the eye. "We did it. We really did it." He whispered. Both boys were completely lost in their moment and did not notice their friends and family cheering and clapping for them and the music starting up again. Tears of happiness were running down both their faces.
A little while later they were sitting down at the tables that were put into a U-shape. The happy couple in the middle with their family and friends next to them. Aaron got up and held his traditional embarrassing best man speech and Luke decided there and then his brother would not live to see his next birthday. Holden proposed a toast to the happy couple and wished them a long and happy life together. Everyone ate, drank and laughed and the 2 professional photographers Lucinda had hired were doing their best to capture the couple’s happy moments.
"Luke, Noah it’s time for you to share your first dance as husbands.'' Faith announced. "Who gave her that microphone?" Luke whispered to Noah who just laughed and took his husband by the hand and led him to the dance floor while the first tones of Cyndi Lauper’s True Colours started to fill the air. They held each other close and forgot the world around them. "You know I’ve always wanted to dance with you to this song. Luke admitted. "Same here" Noah said and chuckled at his choice of words. "I’m sorry I messed it up the first time but I hope today makes up for it." "Let’s just forget about that first time. I know I will never forget this day. It might be a cliché but today really is the best day of my life." Luke said and softly kissed his husband. "Well cliché or not, the best day of my life describes this day pretty good. Thank you Luke." Noah said affectionately. What for?" Luke asked confused. For making me the happiest guy alive. I love you Luke Snyder." Noah said softly. "I love you too Noah Snyder."
