Baby Update: Luke is 21 weeks
Noah put the breakfast cereal on the table and jugs of milk and orange juice. He made sure his toast hadn’t burned, and then went to wake up Melody for her 6th day of school.
Suddenly, there was knocking at the door. Noah went across the lounge, and answered it. There was Damian.
“…Mr.…I mean, Damian. What are you…How do you know where we live?”
“Noah, can we talk?”
“Did you follow me home?” Noah had learned from Luke that Damian was crafty and knew how to get his own way.
“No, I asked one of your friends.”
“Who?”
“Hannah…Hannah Lane?”
“Oh my god. Can you just leave? Before I call Holden!”
“Noah, I do not wish to fight with you. I can see how much of a mistake I made all those years ago with Luke, but I assure you, I have no intention what so ever to ruin Luke’s life, even more so now I know he has a family. Please, just give me a chance.”
“Dad, what time is it?”
Damian smiled at the little girl who he guessed was his oldest granddaughter, Melody.
Melody slowly walked to her Dad’s side, holding onto Noah’s hand.
“You’re Daddy’s friend aren’t you?”
Damian looked at Noah, silently inquiring if ‘friend’ was the right term for him at that moment. Noah nodded.
“Er yes I am and you must be Melody.”
“…Dad…” Melody hid behind Noah’s leg.
“You see Damian. Now is not the time to want to get to know Luke’s kids. They are upset about their father at the minute,” Noah glanced at his daughter, “Especially Melody. That’s why I’m asking you, for the time being, could you leave as alone.”
“But Noah-”
“Mr. Grimaldi, I’m not saying I don’t want to talk to you and get to know you, but now is not the right time.” Noah stared at Damian, reasoning in his eyes.
Damian sighed, “Alright. I’ll go.”
“Thank you. I have to take Melody to school. I don‘t want her to be late.”
“I’m sorry, but,” Damian got out a pen and pad out of his inside suit pocket, “If you want a chat or something happens to Luke or your children, call me.” Damian gave Noah the piece of paper with his cell number on it. “Bye Noah.” He left.
“Dad…I don’t want to worry you, but…I can smell burning.”
“…What! OH NO!” Noah ran, but it was too late. The toast was completely black.

Noah took Mel’s napsack and lunchbox out of the trunk. He held them as he and Mel walked up to the gate.
“Don’t worry Dad; I can go in on my own.” She stopped just sort of the path that led to the school doors.
“Are you sure?” Noah crouched down in front of her.
“Yes, I’ll be fine.” She hugged Noah and gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek. “Bye.”
She casually walked into the school.
Noah took out his cell, “MELODY!” She turned, Noah filming her, “SAY BYE TO DADDY AS WELL.”
“OH!” Mel ran back, realizing her father was filming. Noah put the phone down to Melody’s height. Mel looked into the mobile’s lens, her nose and eyes most visible.
“Bye Daddy. I love you. I’m going to school now. See ya.” She ran back to school waving before disappearing completely.
“I know you want to be here to see that Luke.” Noah ended the recording, before walking back to his truck.

“I can believe it, why didn’t you tell me you saw him at the Lakeview?” Holden asked his wife for the fifth time.
“Because I knew you would be like this. I told him to leave Luke and his family alone, what more could I have said.”
“To leave town completely, go mess up someone else’s life instead.”
“Oh Holden, even I wouldn’t have gone that far.”
“Luke is in a coma, which is causing Noah and our grandchildren a lot of pain and upset at the minute. Damian will just make it worse, like he always does.”
“Holden, I think you’re being too harsh.”
“So what, you believe he has changed?
“…I believe that his intentions now are different from what they were seven years ago. Seven years Holden, surely he has changed in that time.”
Holden shook his head in disbelief, “Not Damian. Come on Lily, look at how many times has he messed up our family, our lives, and now your just willing to forgive him for what he has done?”
“I just think that we shouldn’t get involved, it’s Luke decision if he wants Damian in his life or not.”
“But you’re forgetting something. The last time Damian was here, Luke told him he wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. As for Luke making his decision, since he is in a coma right now, we, as his parents, and Noah, as our son’s husband, have to make his decisions for him.”
Ethan wandered into the lounge were his parents stood.
“Hey buddy, what’s up?”
“Why are you arguing?”
“We’re not.”
“Emma’s crying. I think it’s because of teething.”
Lily smiled at her son, “I’ll be there in a minute.” Ethan went back up to his room. Lily turned back to Holden.
“Can we please just forget about Damian and concentrate on our children and grandchildren.”
Holden admitted defeat in the form of a sigh.

Liz ran to Luke Snyder-Mayer’s hospital room. Bob had paged her and asked her to get there immediately. She went through the door, and found Bob’s team at his side.
“What’s going on? Why do you need to see me?”
“Luke’s body is waking up.”
“What! We haven’t given him the drugs to help him come around yet!”
“I know.”
“Well, we can’t do anything. If we interfere, we might cause some harm to the baby.”
“Exactly.”
“Do you want me to contact Noah, Lily and Holden?”
“Yes, that would be much appreciated.”

Noah had cut down how long he would work, so he could go see Luke more often, while the twins were with their grandparents and Melody was at school.
Casey paced the floor.
“I mean, she could say no…Noah?”
Noah had his eyes closed, leaning his head on his hand.
“Noah?”
“HA, huh, yeah.”
“What?”
“Yes.”
“So you think Alison will say no if I propose.”
“Sorry did I say yes…er… I mean no.”
“Noah, if you’re that tired, just call it a day.”
“Casey, you are not my husband. Shut up and go back to work.”
Casey shook his head and left Noah’s office.
Noah yawned and gave a stretch. His intercom went off.
“Yes Tina?”
“There is a Dr. Liz Bennett on line 2 for you. Says it’s urgent.”
Noah suddenly got worried. It was something to do with Luke. It had to be.
“Thanks Tina.” Noah pressed two and grabbed the phone.
“Hello Noah, it’s me.”
“Liz, what’s going? Has something gone wrong?”
“No…well, I don’t know if it’s good or bad…”
“What do you mean?”
“Luke’s body is waking up out of the coma.”
“…That’s…wow, I…Why is that bad.”
“We, it’s been two weeks but…”
“Liz…just say it.”
“The baby and Luke are both at healthy weights, everything looks great on paper, but I’m a bit concerned about Luke's mental state. He may have momentary amnesia, or maybe…”
“What?”
“I can’t say it.”
“No, Liz. I have a right to know. Tell me.”
“He could have suffered brain damage.”
“How?”
“When Luke collapsed, he suffered a significant blow to the head. He smacked it right on the side of the Snyder’s bathtub. Add on top Luke’s state at the time that could increase the chances of Luke having brain damage. It may be mild, but it may make Luke seem different when he wakes up.”
“Can I come and see him?”
“Yes. Bob wants you, Lily and Holden here urgently. Luke needs to see as many familiar faces as possible when he wakes up.”
“I’ll be there as quick as I can.” Noah said goodbye, and rushed getting his things together. Luke was waking up. That was the best news he had heard in weeks.

Noah, Lily, Holden, Lucinda, Bob, Liz and Willow all stood around Luke’s bed. Noah sat on the edge, holding Luke’s hand, just waiting to see an ounce of life back in Luke’s face. Lily and Holden held each other’s hand, Lucinda full of anticipation. Liz, Willow and Bob were just there to do their jobs, but they were glad that their hard work had paid off.
Luke’s thumb twitched against the palm of Noah’s hand. Noah sat up straight, signaling to the others that this was it. Luke’s eyes blinked, but still stayed shut. Lily saw Luke’s leg move, a good sign. Finally, Luke opened one eye, then the other, slowly, until he was looking at Noah, his sparkle back. Noah smiled at him before kissing his forehead.
“Awake are we?” Lily moved closer.
“Hm…We…where am…did I…Did I fall or something?”
“You collapsed, about two weeks ago.”
“Two, two weeks. Why am I in a hospital?”
“Your Mom just told you Luke, you collapsed. Do you remember the baby?”
“…I was ill…then…Noah was with me in the hospital and, I was crying because you were going to send me to sleep.”
“You don’t need to sleep any more Luke. You and the baby are better.”
Luke smiled, making Noah’s tears fall quicker.
Luke turned to his husband. “What’s up with you?” He grinned.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” They kissed.

Noah lay on the bed with Luke, both making up for the lost weeks apart. They had their arms wrapped around each other and were sharing kisses and caresses.
“Did Liz tell you that we’re expecting a boy?”
Luke’s face lit up, his face shocked, but in a good way. “A boy!”
Noah ran his hand over Luke’s stomach, “I couldn’t believe it either.”
“Well, surely we have to pick a name now.”
“Can we choose Oscar? I really like that name.”
Luke grinned and nodded, resting his head on Noah’s shoulder. “Little Ossie.”
The two shared a moment.
"Where's Mel?"
“Melody's at school.”
Luke looked up at Noah, his eyes begun to fill up. “ I missed it.”
“No you didn’t. I recorded nearly every time she went in and come out of school. It’s all on my laptop.”
Luke sniffed, “You did that?”
“Yeah. I know how much those little things mean to you.”
Luke kissed him tenderly, his hand on Noah's neck, pulling his husband's head down to him. “I love you Mr.”
“Hm, I love you too.”
They kissed until Luke stopped suddenly.
“What? What is it?”
Luke took Noah’s hand and placed it at the side of his bump.
“I’m so glad I can feel this and I didn’t miss it.” He smiled at Noah as he pressed his hand on Noah‘s so he could feel their little boy kicking inside Luke.
“Oh...my god..." He chuckled and tightened his other arm around Luke. "Hey, alright there Osc! Don’t kick Daddy too hard, he’s only just woke up. Jeez, he’s really kicking away isn’t he!”
“Mm Hm,” Luke rubbed his hand over Noah’s.
Noah looked up at Luke, “You’re feeling better, you don’t feel sick anymore?”
Luke smiled, vibrant eyes darting, looking into Noah’s. “I’m fine.”
Luke’s smile disappeared, his glance shifting to over Noah's shoulder, “Oh my god…Noah, what’s he doing here?” Luke clutched onto Noah‘s shoulders.
Noah turned. It was Damian.
“Oh god.” Noah mumbled.
