York’s knights were waiting in front of the tent. They were very nervous and excited. Nobody knew who is this young man and what he wants. Two hours later Lord York and John came out from the tent. The people pressed close to them and silenced. - My faithful knights! He’s John Hamilton! Lord Lancester sent him here with a message! Repeat the message, please! – said to John. He repeted everything and the people in armour were protesting. - No, Sir! You mustn’t to do this! This is a trap! It is ridiculous! This is a dirty idea! – yelled everybody. Lord York was smiling. He was very clever and he thought this is a trap, too. But he already bored this war and wanted to finish. And maybe this is a possibility, he didn’t want to miss it. - Quiet, quiet! – he was gestured. – I agree with you. I have a bad feeling about it, but I have to try it! - But why? – asked Luke silently, but everybody heard it. Lord York looked at him. - Why, Luke Snyder? Why? Because I have to give a chance to him. Maybe we can finish the war now. - I don’t think so. – answered Luke. John when he heard the name fast looked at him. Now he knew who is Luke Snyder. He heartily looked at he. He saw Luke Snyder was a young knight, with blondie hair and brown-eyes. He wasn’t too tall, but he was a handsome man. And he saw the huge pain in his eyes. He wanted to talk with him as soon as possible. - I decided that, my knights. Now I will meet with Lord Lancester. Please do your work. Go! – he commanded. The people bitched, but they submitted. Luke did a step, when John called. - Mr. Snyder! Wait a minute, please! Luke turned back surprisedly. He didn’t know, what he wants from him. - What do you want from me? - Can we talk a little bit? Just you and me. – asked John. - Of course, but I don’t knowt what can we talk about. - It is very important. Believe me! - Okay. Follow me! Few minutes later they arrived to a little field near the camp. - Now we are alone. – said Luke. – Talk! - I have a message for you. - A message? From who? – Luke was surprised. - From William Montgomery. – answered John. - I do not know who is he. – he shook his head uncomprehendingly. - Naturally, not. He is our leech. - And then? - He sent to a message. Do you know named men, named Noah Mayer? Luke face winced. His love name heard from an other men mouth was very bad feeling now. - Yes. I know him. I knew him… - he corrected himself. – Why? - Because he is alive. – said John silently. - What? – screamed Luke. - What did you say? – he grabbed his arm. - I said he is alive. – repeted John coolly. - I can’t believe it. I saw him… He is dead. - whispered Luke. - No! You are wrong. He is very ill, but he still alive. And William thinks so, he is a strong men, he has got good chances. He wants to live. - Are you serious? - Yes. Absolutely. – John was smiling. - Noah is alive! Noah is alive! Noah is alive! – iterated Luke. – There is God! Thank you my God! He got on the knees and prayed. John was waiting levelly. He felt his heart is alive again too. - Yes. He is. Is it a good news for you, right? - Good news? – Luke was laughing. – This news saved my life. - Saved your life? I don not understand. - Don’t worry. It is already not important. I have to see him! – Luke decided that. – Can you help me? - To see him? It is impossible. - No. It is not. I have to find a possibility. Luke was thinking, tried to guess something. Finally he found a chance. - I have an idea! – said Luke. – Just a little possibility, but that’s it. - Tell me! - Lord York will go with you, right? - Yes… - I will go with him. - You? - Me. I am a knight too. I have just to exhort him. I have to see him! I can’t wait. - I understand you. Can I ask you something? - Yes. - Who was that? – ask John. Luke didn’t want to understand it. - Who? - You know. - No, I am not. - said the blondie. - Okay. I will expressier. Who was the assassin? Luke didn’t answered, just saw him with his beautiful brown eyes. - Do you hear me? Luke! Please tell me something! - I can’t. - Why? - Because this is too difficult. If Noah wants, he will tell to you or somebody. This not my task. I can’t say anything. - You are too mysteroius, Luke. There is a big secret here. You made me more curious. - I am so sorry. But you have to wait for the truth. Just Noah can tell you that. - To look as. Now I have to go back. - I go with you. I have to ask Lord York if I want to go. - I hope your plan is succeed. - Thank you, John! Let’s go! They went back to the camp, straight to Lord York’s tent. Luke knocked on the slat of the tent. - Lord York! Sir! May I go in? – asked Luke. - Who is that? - I am Luke, my lord. John Hamilton is with me too. May we go in? We want to talk to you. - All right. Come in! They went into the camp and they talked. What about? We don’t know, but one hour later John, Lord York and his four knights rode out the tent. And Luke was the one of the knights. |
