What Could Be - Point of View (Part 1)This is a featured page

(Kim walks into her office, with Luke and Noah following)

Kim: Thanks for coming down here. I know that you have a hectic schedule, what with your children and the newborn Oscar, but it means a lot that you have taken time out to come see me.

Luke: Well, my Mom owns this place, and this is where Noah and I met, so we wouldn’t turn down your offer to speak to us.

(All three sit down in their respected chairs)

Kim: Now, I’ll just run you through what I’m asking you to do. The whole town of Oakdale know you both, either being family, childhood acquaintances or family friends. We’ve heard about everything you two have been through, before you got married. Noah finding himself, Luke’s paralysis, Noah’s father and your break up in the summer of 2008. Since you’ve had children and got married, you have both matured. We want to hold a couple of interviews, with both of you, but not together. Your story of how you had to come to terms with becoming fathers at 19, marriage at such a young age, and the difficulties of your family, would, if told, give so many people an insight into the world of young adults dealing with much older things.

(Noah and Luke look at each other)

Kim: Now, I don’t want you to feel like we’re intruding into your private life. I just think that your story could help many teens who maybe, aren’t looking after their life, and are fooling around. It might make them think twice before having sex with someone. It may deter teens from thinking that having a baby is all cuteness and smiles, when in fact is a very different story, as you both know. Most of the teenagers in Oakdale know you, and will probably respect your words more than a youth councilor.
What will happen, if you agree is, we will ask you, one at a time, to answer a question. It’s a big question, not ‘What is your favorite color?’, but more like an event that has happened during your life so far. There are no restrictions or anything. You tell it in your own way. It will be your point of view. There will only be a camera operator and me in the room with you.
So… what do you think?

(Noah smiles at Luke, Luke winking back.)

We’ll do it.

Kim: Oh, that’s fantastic.

Luke: When do we start?

Kim: Today?
