"Sometimes the story takes you for the ride, not the other way around. The ending was a little painful, but ending it happily would not have been true to the story as it was unfolding for you, so better you finish it the way it was meant to be finished and keep its provocative conclusion, that take the safe way out and be left somewhat unfulfilled and with a predictable and worse, forgetable ending.

Sometimes there's beauty in ugliness (I can think of at least 3 dog owners in my neighborhood who live by this mantra :p lol)
