soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 15 2008, 6:58 PM EDT The wiki is locked (??) so I'll post this here instead: "Brian Wheatley arrives in town - and warns Luke not to move too fast with Noah." http://www.soaps.com/astheworldturns/spoilers/ They forgot to add "... and then Luke kicks him in the balls for being a moron." "Luke and Noah do what is best for the foundation" sounds suspiciously closety, but Luke definitely wouldn't cooperate with that, so I wonder what really happens? And how long it'll take until "Luke and Noah's romance moves forward". 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 17 2008, 12:48 AM EDT I'm sure what'll happen is that the guy tells Luke to keep the relationship between he and Noah to "friends---in order to make sure the foundation gets funds and is viewed highly by others". This is where "Luke and Noah do what is best for the foundation" comes in. They keep it cool and do nothing. Unfortunately I don't foresee any close moments between these two for awhile. When they do, I'm sure (being a soap opera) it DESTROYS the foundation. Then Luke feels so bad for what he did, so he stays away from Noah even more to try and get the foundation back together. Blah Blah Blah. Who thinks I'm wrong? Do you find this valuable? |

I don't know what "do what is best for the foundation" could mean, but I doubt they'll play out another storyline involving the two of them hiding again like they did with the ICE. Especially not after all this talk of their plans to move in together eventually. Besides somewhere there was promised a romantic summer for them. And I doubt that was in reference to the few episodes we actually saw them in. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 17 2008, 7:59 AM EDT I don't think they will go into the closet. I read something somewhere - sorry don't recall - that the guy that comes in to run the foundation makes some remarks that upset Luke - i.e. anti gay. The decision they make could be to keep this guy around and deal with it, in place of firing him - I hope that it is. If Luke and Noah head for the closet - we will need to let the letters fly again - with luck they were smarter than that this time :) Do you find this valuable? |

RE: soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 17 2008, 8:37 AM EDT what's strange is, wouldn't you think, Luke of all people would create a foundation that would revolve around gay issues, which would make the possibility of his going into the closet moot. So wtf is this foundation for anyway if it's not something that will help alleviate some of the issues within gay culture? Do you find this valuable? |

RE: soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 17 2008, 8:45 AM EDT I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing as story that didn't revolve around Luke and Noah being gay. This is a foundation for "sick kids." Luke was a sick child, with his kidney failure and all. I know it seems vague, but I think that was just his starting idea. It'll be interesting to see if they branched out into something specific. :) Do you find this valuable? |

It's for children and everyone knows that all gays are perverts, so a gay person can't be trusted around children. Okay now that I've thrown up after that statement. Luke will not go back in the closet. He's faught too long and hard to get out and after the Ameera thing, the kicking Brian in the balls, is a definate possibility. I'm sure that doing the right thing is letting Brian run the foundation, becasue he is the best man for the job, but they will probably keep an eye on him. Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah, this would be the first time Luke's ever been asked to go back in the closet. Even when Noah was with Ameera, Luke was still out. He just had to pretend not to be dating Noah. Brian is a lawyer that Luke is highering to help run his foundation. They just need to get it started, they already have the money. :) Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 17 2008, 4:17 PM EDT "There you go being logical. It's for children and everyone knows that all gays are perverts, so a gay person can't be trusted around children.Well it's not like gay people emerge out of pods, gay people were once gay children, some of whom no doubt were sick at one point or another in their young lives, so I don't see why all these components have to be mutually exclusive. *sigh* oh well, whatever the inane premise, I don't see Luke going back in the closet and I'm guessing as is typically the case, this spoiler is much ado about nothing. I'm guessing if it was a "going back into the closet" storyline we'd have actually seen the spoiler allude to that just to get everyone's knicker's in a knot. Brian would seem too young to be a love interest for Lucinda, so this may be one of those circumstances where a younger man tries to "fleece" a wealthy older woman... so maybe Nuke will be standing guard keeping this guy in check? Wheatley, having gone through his corporate life, believing his success depended on being in the closet, probably thinks Luke should do the same, not knowing, or realizing, that Luke is actually and truly doing this out of the good of his heart and a desire for service, not because he's using the foundation as a basis to make business contacts. As is all too often true in the corporate world, most megamillionaires create such foundations in order to add prestige to their own business interests and further their careers. Wheatley just makes the mistake, that Luke is one of those people. Do you find this valuable? |

I do hope this storyline does actually have some backbone to it, would hate it to basically be another random instance thrown into the mix just to have the guys pop up for a week or two, then go back into the woodwork for another month. Joe character dolls straight into the dustpan. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 18 2008, 2:47 PM EDT Don't get me wrong-I hope I'm worng too. I'm just basing my guess on what's happened in there previous stroylines (which you've all mentioned in later replies). And, to make clear, my funds comment was directed to future donations from other organizations. Luke did get a large sum of money from Damien (I don't believe the total was disclosed-it have have been though), but an organization needs to have some sort of income coming in, wouldn't it (again, we need to find out exactly what his "sick kids" organization does). Regarding the doctor being a closeted gay--it's possible. I've never heard of the actor playing him, although that's irrelevent. I don't think they'd repeat the "gay pretending to be striaght" storyline on Lucinda, granted that we've all assumed he will be her new love interest. Just some thoughts. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: soaps.com spoiler for week of 8/18
Aug 18 2008, 8:36 PM EDT "The actor playing him was the male character of the "it" couple on AMC in the early 80s. Greg and Jenny (Tad's sister) were young, virginal and in love, in many ways the equivalent of Nuke. They were best friends with Angie and Jessie (who I believe popped back up last year on the show) and they had a tragic Romeo and Juliet romance when Jenny died in a tragic boating accident water-skiing of all things. Kim Delaney of NYPD Blue fame, among other things, played the young and beautiful Jenny. So it's weird seeing him play opposite Luke and Noah because 25 years ago the young, pure and in love storyline was his! Do you find this valuable? |
