Aug 23 2008, 10:52 AM EDT ATWT is trying to save money - soaps in general have lost in the ratings big time since 2005 and ATWT has lost as well - in fact I think they might be in 5th place right now. The reasons for the ratings drop are: people are watching talk shows in place of soaps, watching a cable channel in place of the soap, watching a dvd, watching a clip only on youtube (youtube does not count toward ratings in anyway, you can go to http://www.cbs.com/daytime/as_the_world_turns/ to watch the full show on the internet - which CBS is able to track ) or have simply walk away from the soaps for their own reasons. When the ratings go down, the money they can make selling commercials around the shows drop - and that hurts the networks and the local stations. There is a link on the home page to CBS comments - and you can also write via postal service to CBS, ATWT and P&GE (company that owns the show) - and tell them you support the show - IF you do write - please keep it POSITIVE - they need to know you support the shows and the actors. Plus - keep watching - if the ratings can remain stable or even better go up for ATWT, then they can bring back more actors full time as they get more money into the budget - it all ties together!
